Frequently Asked Questions

Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, we look forward to meeting you and your family.
Do you accept children?
Yes, we believe in providing comprehensive treatment to all patients, including children.
I went to another dentist and they say I need some work, I want a second opinion?
We will be pleased to offer a second opinion. Call to schedule an appointment.
My child is afraid of the dentist, what can be done about this?
Previous dental visits may not have been pleasant for them. We can offer your child Nitrous Oxide sedation, this is a safe, affordable way to relax your child and provide the necessary treatment.
Can I go back with my child when treatment is performed?
We prefer that you remain in the waiting room. If you really want to go back with them we will allow it. Due to OSHA and HIPAA laws, only one parent is allowed to accompany the patient back to the treatment room.
Do you accept Virginia Medicaid?

We’re sorry, but we are not able to accept Virginia Medicaid.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we are a participating provider for most major insurance companies. Your insurance company may restrict benefits. If this occurs, you are responsible for any unpaid balance.
Do you take Tenn Care?

We’re sorry, but we are not able to accept Tenn Care.

Do you offer financing?
We will be happy to offer financing to patients upon credit approval.
I’m scared of the dentist? Will it hurt?
We have several options to assist you with your dental anxiety. Sedation dentistry is a helpful alternative for some patients (read about it under Treatment & Services link). With advanced local anesthesia methods, you can receive comprehensive dentistry in a comfortable, relaxing state.
If I bleach my teeth, will my fillings bleach too?
Unfortunately, most dental materials will not bleach. There will be a discrepancy between your teeth and dental fillings if you bleach. However, we can replace your fillings with newer, longer lasting options so there is a harmonious color match.
How long will my bleaching last?
That is a good question. Depending on your habits and numerous other factors, you can reasonably expect the bleaching will last several years. Their will be a rebound effect after stopping bleaching (the teeth will darken a shade or two). But, this can be combated by touch-up bleaching every couple of months.
My gums ache and bleed easily, is this normal?
No. Bleeding gums is usually the first sign of gingivitis or periodontal disease. If left untreated, it can result in destruction of your bone and tissue. Seek dental care to prevent this disease process from occurring.
I don’t want x-rays because they cause cancer?
Dental radiographs do use ionizing radiation to produce a “picture” of your teeth. These radiographs allow use to view between your teeth and into the hard, bony regions of your jaw and skull. We view radiographs to rule out certain types of cancer and pathology that we can not see normally. The equivalent dose (the amount of radiation you are exposed to) of a dental panoramic radiograph is the equivalent of about 3.3 days of natural background radiation. A series of four intraoral radiographs is equivalent of 4.8 days of background radiation.
I smoke. I chew tobacco. I dip. Will this cause cancer?
You have a dramatically increased chance of developing cancer or leukoplakia because of these habits. We can prescribe cessation medication to help you quit.
